Abstract

This article explores the cognitive and conceptual characteristics of irony from a linguistic perspective. It highlights the role of irony in shaping the linguistic worldview, its manifestation in cognitive processes, and its semantic functions as a stylistic device. The study emphasizes the connection between irony, national mindset, and cultural values. Mechanisms of secondary nomination, conceptual structuring, and the functions of irony in literary discourse are discussed and supported with various illustrative examples.
